I have a 18 month old E350CDI (265BHP), generally very pleased with it.

One annoying point is when the autobox goes into first gear such as stopping at a junction, I get a little thud. Seems to be worse when the engine is cold.

Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem? I did mention it on the 12 month service, they said they had remapped the box but I have not noticed any difference.

This is a common problem with the 7G box. I get it with mine but tend to adjust the way I drive to minimize it.

There was a software update around September 2011, which I had done on my ML and it has transformed the box. Now silky smooth in all situations.

The 265bhp 350cdi uses the new 7g plus box.

It seems as if the game hasn't been moved on - the old 7g did this unless you had the software fixed.

However it's quite normal and I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks guys been away for the weekend & done about 300 miles.

Its much less noticable once the engine is hot.
