R230...about to purchase will update shortly
Ladies and Gents, I dont know, ungrateful things these Mercs...!!! ;) I had just treated my E430 to 8 litres of Mr Mobil's finest Fully Synthetic and a selection of Bosch Filters, when driving home from my locall indy, i start getting flashed by cars behind until at a set of lights omeone jumped out and told me my reversing lights were stuck on.. after a bit of investigation it turns out they are stuck on in N D and R. I know its nothing the garage did, since ive been using them for 17 years, I'm on first name terms with owner and was standing next and under.. (H&S..oops!) the car with the guys doing the oil change!!.
I guess (hope) this is a simple case of the reversing switch giving out. In the mean time ive removed the bulbs, to the accompanyment of a dashboard warning everytime i start up!

Question - anyone had this before?. is the switch (if it is that)easy to get at or is it £££/hour at my stealership???

Many thanks All

and I cant remember if the switch is on the back of the gearbox or on the shift console, though I think it is on the later. Do a search here as this came up about 3 months ago.

Many Thanks malcolm, I think ive found the particular post - re an older 230e, but doubt if the switch has moved much.. sounds like its in just the right place to pick up all the muck of the road thus helping it on its way to an early grave!!..
Why is it lights pack up just as the nights are drawing in.. and a/c packs up just as summer approaches!!!

As these lamps are driven from a plus power supply, you could take the fuse or the bulb out. it going to P down with rain tomorrow, so not a good day to play, if it is on the console I can point you in the right direction as how to go about it.

Hello,

I think your find on a 210 the reverse light singal comes out of the gear recogition module ( the housing that the gear stick is in). Have had a few of these go. Have you had any gearbox type faults? Or have you spilt anything down the gearshift? Don't laugh it does happen believe me! What year is the car?

Hope this is of some help
