S500 (W222) 2014. Turbo 4.7 V8 with loads of toys. Superfast luxury.
Hi All

I am looking at replacing my 2004 E500. The dealer is offering just over £2000 trade in which I reckon is low. I would happily take £2500 from any forum members who were interested rather than the trade making a big profit.

83000 miles, Silver with black Leather, pano roof, folding rear seats, drivers memory seat, Owned by me for the last 11 years with all MOTs and a pile of service history.

I will look at adding photos later

Sounds great for the money. Guess it's a 211 then. I'll tell my mate about it. He's got an Audi but the DSG box is playing up.

Just an update.
I decided in the end to trade it in. I got £2K for it which was a bit low but I didn't want it hanging around and really don't like the process of selling a car privately with the timewasters and random calls offering to advertise it for you. It will be shipped out to an auction as it was too old for the dealer, so the next buyer might get a bargain.

Sorry if anybody is disappointed.

The next buyer won't get much of a bargain, it is up on Car Gurus for £5995 !!! Anybody on here looking at it check that the warped disk has been sorted.

That's one hell of a mark up!
At least he'll get a nice tan on his holiday in the Caribbean...

Agreed, plenty of meat on that bone.

It might sit around awhile and he'll have to provide a (useless) warranty and get someone to throw a bucket of water over it every week or so. Probably get a cheeky bid or three so his £3K profit won't last long.

Sorry to hear that you have sold your E500 Pete which is a sister car to mine right down to colour & mileage. Also used
as a daily driver. No intention to dispense with it until I can no longer drive.

Excuse my lack of knowledge but, is the E500 the same as the 500E?

I remember years ago the 500E being one of the fastest MB's around, or maybe most powerful, cannot remember at one time.

Yep, the 124 500e/e500 is a special car, worth good money now. The e500 above is probably a better car and almost the same power, but not with the same history I guess, but then it's a fraction of the price too!

Sounds a lot but don't forget the dealer has to refurbish any defects and prepare it for sale. Parts for that car won't be cheap. You have to bear in mind that he bought it at an auction and if there issues with it they will be unknown to him.

When he sells it he will have to warranty it. I say that because I don't think an insurance warranty will cover a vehicle of that age. The dealer is taking a risk but yes, he could come out of it well. :(

Hahahaha, I lol'ed at this. Remember when I bought my car, the dealer was in the Caribbean the following week.

(There didn't appear to be much markup on my deal though, going by the auction receipt I found in glovebox) I giggled none the less :D

I’m not defending dealers but let’s face it we all move cars on with known faults so there are always two sides to every coin I don’t recall any instances of previous owners being chased about these faults either so the industry obviously accepts and absorbs these costs. In my opinion dealers would much prefer to sell new cars on what ever flavour of HP suits them that’s where the money is.

I still loved mine as well, even after 11 years, but just got the itch for something newer. Carry on enjoying yours.
