E53 estate, 2021 (previously: E43 premium saloon 2017. E350 cdi 2013; C350 cdi 2010)
Hi everyone. I’m looking for some advice from any e53 owners. I got my new E53 estate delivered yesterday (replacing an e43 saloon). Am delighted with the car so far, looks fantastic and seems a few key improvements over the 43 though I‘ve still to get to know it properly and 1000 miles before get there!
Anyway, a couple of queries if anyone can help:
At the front base of the driver and passenger seats there is just a gap between the upholstery and floor (i am sure the e43 had some trim there). Just looks and feels a bit unfinished, not really in keeping with the rest of the cabin. Has anyone else noticed this (...or should I just stop looking under my seats!)?
Other question was whether any other e53s have eco mode under dynamic select? I have seen reviews of the e53 referring to eco mode but mine has sport+, sport, comfort, individual and slippery (the e43 had it so I could enjoy willfully ignoring it...;).
Thanks for any help or advice!

Hi fella, hope your enjoying your new wheels. I’m afraid I can’t help with your question, although I’ll be able to from next month when mine arrives!

Can you post some pics and maybe the full spec? The U.K. spec seems to be a bit of a moveable feast and I’m a bit concerned that they eventually upgrade the U.K. spec to the euro spec, making our residuals a bit poorer.

anyway, have fun!

I’m sure you will both be delighted with the car once you’ve got used to it, from my point of view it’s great to see Mercedes producing an IL6 again they have a long history of producing these engines and they are sublime

Enjoy the car!

Cheers, loving it so far. What spec have you gone with - are you getting a facelift model?

Will get some pics taken in the daylight. Have to say black looks great. I’ve attached details from spec sheet for info.

Thanks, I am so far. I’m only about halfway through run in so still not really stretched its legs yet or got a real feel for difference between the v6. Ride definitely a bit more refined and not as harsh as e43 could be at times, even though still on 20s. Other joy so far is the burmester system: in absence of high revs, sport+ exhaust soundtrack it is providing an excellent substitute!

Think yours is pretty much the same as mine, I went for the night edition also and added the drivers assist package. So everything short of going full E63.

Glad to hear the ride isn’t too harsh on the 20’s. Real world MPG?

The options of the AMG steering wheel buttons, the optional AMG Dynamics Plus Package (with drift mode etc), optional AMG Performance seats, optional head up display and AMG drivers package, all mentioned in Mercedes press release of last year, don’t appear to have made it into U.K. spec. Annoying but not surprising. I’ll be ****ed off if they do!

Mine should look something like attached, albeit with all black interior.

Looks fantastic! Mine is prefacelift though.
Only additional spec I would have liked is the hud as I was used to this in my previous car and found it useful, but although a few used models kicking about with it, no e53 available new with hud. I actually considered m340i touring - hard to find one of them without hud, though electric seats an option not all the cars i looked at had! Anyway the E is a bigger, better spec‘d car for me overall so no regrets.
Have seen a few threads around on previous supply chain issues for components/windscreen required for hud as reason for limited availability but who knows why, what is now a pretty common feature, is so rarefied here in the uk.
It is a bit annoying to see press cars in the reviews draped in features we cant actually get here but maybe as I age I am slowly learning better to enjoy what I actually have than worry too much about what i dont (...well that’s the theory at least!;)

Yeah not having the HUD is disappointing, last two cars both have/had it and would have been nice with the augmented reality. Bit of a first world problem so musn’t grumble! Get some pics up!

Looks absolutely stunning! What sort of mileage are you getting?
Highly unrepresentative of real world i suspect as still complying with run in guidance but so far 20-24 on shorter mixed runs, highest is 30 on longer run mix of motorway and A road. E43 was between 18-20 in my hands at least so for now am classing myself as full on eco warrior with these figures;)

Was going to ask, what are the seats like in the new cars, they look a little firm to me?

Hi v6matty: the standard e53 seats are really comfortable, well cushioned and really adjustable. i’ve never found them to be firm certainly.

Delivery now 13th May, might be a while yet before I join the E53 club! What are your thoughts now you've had it a bit longer?

is coming closer though!

I am at 1500 miles now so run in and having fun with it! Overall is a fantastic car: is stupidly fast, comfortable and fun - performance exhaust may not be same as v8 cousins but lively enough soundtrack to put a smile on my face. Feels noticeably faster than the e43, and handling is excellent without being harsh even in s+. No eco mode on my 2020 model, though early reviews seem to suggest was on some e53 models.

though would have liked the hud, am getting on fine without it: the digital screens are flexible enough to configure screens to clearly show useful info whilst you focus on driving.

Am booked in to have it detailed and ceramic coated at end of this month as a few minor imperfections in paint from dealers prep. So looking forward to it looking even better than already does;)

Only issue I have had is some of the coating on the inside of two of the tailpipes flaking off. Seems to be a known issue on night package and should be a simple warranty fix. I’ve still to sort this though.

Sounds great, hopefully get an update on mine shortly.
Who is doing th ceramic coating for you? Was thinking I might get that done straight out the dealer but as it’s stands just going with the StarGard and see how it goes.

Using a local guy, Dmd Detailing. Looking forward to seeing finished article: the few light scratches & swirls from brand new really show on obsidian black - especially when you stare at them:)

look forward to seeing pics of yours when it arrives!
