Cats all removed and middle box ( Custom System)
DMS Tuned
K&n Filters

Current Power

Torque - 600 RWHP
BHP - 470 RWPH

Any ideas to get more power?????

Hi ACID and welcome to the forum. What do you plan doing with any more power than you currently have? Where can you use it and how does it differentiate you from the owners of mere SL55s, for example?

Does the car not become more tempramental as you approach the limits of performance?

hi

The merc SL55 has the same engine as the e55 but i think stock the SL is faster. What make my merc E55 different then SL is that its a family car aswell, to hard to get a baby seat in the back of the SL.

The reason why i want more power because i use the car for the 1/4 mile runs and am trying to get under 11 seconds which is going to be hard.
i am willing to take the risk as i approach my limit, reason being if i blow the engine or the box i got a spare one, as i am a mercedes breaker garage.

Its more to represent the Mercedes on the tracks as you dont see many on there and they are known as a old mans Car!!! LOL

Dont get me wrong alot off people do think i am mad trying to get more power out of the car!

Thanks
ACID

The problem with this sort of thing is that the last few horsepower cost the most money. MKB can take this engine to 620fwhp, but you will be removing some bits you have already bought to get there.

http://www.mkb-tuning.de/content/en/products/products.php?fahrzeug_id=1&prod_gruppe=11

A 50 or 75 hp shot of nitrous is not excessively high, and on forced induction engines can actually be beneficial, as it has a pronounced cooling effect on the charge. It will work with what you already have, and will be much more cost effective. You can have it on a switch, and only use it when you feel the need.

Have you thought of increased boost pressure like twin turbo set up but in series, and getting a boost pressure of 50 to 75 Psi at the manifold.

More air ie double the air in to the engine will than allow double the fuel, but the air will heat up with the higher pressure.
This will result in a large increase in power but not double as the hotter charge air will reduce the maximum power to less than double unless you use a water spray on to the intercooler to get the charge mair temp back down
again.
Having done this then introduce nox and possibly water vapour in to the intake air, but having doen this I would advise a scatter shield tound the flywheel/gearbox mto keep the bits in and not let them fly outside and in to the car or crowd. This is what is done on pulling tractors for safety.
.
There is a Yank book called boosting for power or similar and tells all re squeezing the last out of an engine.

Best of luck
Mike

I would think that you'll reach a point where the injectors can't keep up with the fuelling requirements and bigger injectors or raised fuel pressure will be needed. Bigger injectors are probably the way to go first.

You may also need to look at a cam profile change.

For everyday use I'd steer clear of K&N as their oil content will nacker your MAF. For that 1/4 mile drag blast I'd have thought that running without a filter and using NOX on a boost switch would be the way to go.

hi

I am first gonna get a fuel pressure reg and bigger injectors, The SLR injectors fit straight in need to locate some, been thinking to change the headers to kleemans with their down pipes, and see what differnce that would make.

Will keep you updated!

Thanks

Spoke to Kleemanns and can get the headers and down pipe for about £1500 included Vat, wich is not bas as they want £2300 + Vat before the Money Crisis!!

Will be going santa pod on Sunday see what times i get !!

try and buy from europe, you might get a better deal, quote your vat number if you have one, and get it in vat free, also I was thinking if you have a spare engine, why not get someone like crew engines to strip, fit some http://www.dartonsleeves.com/ possibly new rods and pistons then again your old ones may work fine, depends what they say, you could possibly fit a small turbo or turbos, to up the boost as well as retaining the supercharger, this had been done many times on other cars, much smaller than the e55, if not dump the charger and get someone like Mosselman to fit you a bi turbo kit, then you would have some serious power, problem would be getting it on the tarmac, so progressive nos would be the only real alternative.

hi

to get the engine rebuilt is looking about £15000 - £20000 which is a mental amount of money!! lol

i got SLR Fuel injectors ordered and the headers, i got someone looking into changing the super charger pully to increase boost, or
if i can find someone into retaining the charger that would be great but i have not found anyone to do it , i will speak to DartonSleeves see what they can do,

Also i got someone looking in to lighten the Fly wheel but will need to see how much weight can be reduced so the more power can be transfered to the wheels and rather then loose it in the transmission box and flywheel.

The bi-turbo i have been thinking would be ideal if i can get hold of a SL65 bi-turbo engine and ecu but there like gold to get hold off, i got a few ideas now where to move forwards now so i will see what happens.

thanks
