hi, the usual question! Have rec'd a quote to renew my insurance for 2003 E55 saloon, at a grand. Reckon i should be able to get it much cheaper, so i'll ring around, but in the meantime any recommendations? ....am 41, full ncb, clean license.... and i don't live in a war zone !

cheers
Nick

I just use the oline quote comparison sites. I know the ads are tacky but they do actually work. Saved me over £600 on my 2 policies this year.

I found them great for "normal" cars i.e. worked really well with my wife's Touran as well as for my non-AMG Mercs in the past. In my experience of my BMW ZM Coupe and my CLK55 phoning around worked out cheaper as they asked much more detailed questions in an attempt to get my premium down e.g. what other high performance cars have you driven etc.

Just my personal experience for what it's worth.

well... just 2 calls so far, and A-Plan undercut my quote by over 300 quid, at 689 with 500 excess... and RAC with 1k excess came in at 596. (they were quite thorough... when i said i drive a few miles each day to the station to get train to work, they wanted to know what type of roads they were (!), minor, A roads etc... and then they asked if i commute with other people, to which i relpied... well, i commute by train, so what do you think ;)

went back to Aplan, told em i got 540 from rac, and they came down to 510, with 500 ex, protcd ncb etc etc. and no tracker reqd. At this rate, it'll be down to a couple hundred quid :p
