The really early cars with KE injection don't suffer from wiring loom issues. My 1991 car doesn't seem to have any crumbling wiring insulation :)

On the 124 Richard it only applied to 1 engine and I was pretty sure the same with the 129, was it the 24v

My fathers 1995 w124 M104 powered E320 has the problem. I have already supplied him with loom repair kits for the coilpacks.

I know it was the facelift petrol engines in the w124, the m104 3.2 in particular but not the 3.0 litre version of the m104 as this was ke-jet.

from "classic and performance car";
"Engine management and injection systems evolved, with the earliest cars using a mechanical fuel injection (K/KE-Jetronic), changing to sequential LH Jetronic in October 1992 then Motronic."

KE has its issues, but compared to LH and Motronic they are wonderfully simple. Are you looking to add to your fleet?

I missed out on an early 500 a few months ago but if I get the chance I think it will be the ke-jet version for me, and in the round less thirsty than the g-wagen

I think that the 119 is more economical than the 113, I have had both

I had an early 140 s500 and that had a totally shot engine loome. I dont imagine any will be immune completely, best to check each specific example.

Malcolm, im supprised what you say about economy, I found it the other way around, the 119 much thirstier than the 113 (not the one with the shot loome, that doesnt count!)

I have the 119 in my 140 and that easily returns 30mpg, Ok it is the 140 but still pulls this heavy car very well.

I had a CL500 with the 119 and really struggled to get it up towards 30, and the e55 was alot easier to get over 30. Still, I suppose its not really the point of buying a V8!
