The easy load motorised load cover on my 2004 s211 320CDi has a fault. When the tailgate is opened the load cover is lifted and when the tailgate is closed the load cover will come back down BUT won't stop!

When its come all the way down the motor continues to try and drive the load cover with an ensuing racket that sounds like gear teeth being stripped!

Research online suggests the whole drive unit will need replacing ... Sound about right?

Thanks in advance

If the motor is working why replace it? Sounds like the limit switch, or other device that tells it when to stop, is faulty

Indeed, but it would appear MB don't sell replacement limit switches... Only the whole drive unit!

Have you tried to get to the offending part to make sure that is not working
