My EC light came on 6 months ago. No air con doesn't really bother me but recently my blower has started to give problems. When I start the car it comes on for anything between 2 - 5 seconds and then swithes off.

On the odd occasion it came on intermittently of its own accord but now it has stopped doing that and just comes on for the initial 2-5 seconds at start up.

Any suggestions about either problem and possible cost and is it something that I can possibly fix myself.

Vehilce is 2002, 210, E320 CDi.

Sounds like the system needs re-gassing, not a DIY possibility

£50 to £120 indie - dealer

Blower may be be just responding to the availability of chilled/ dehumidified air.

Get the system re-gassed and see if the blower still acts up.

i supect the blower resistor is faulty it is located under the passenger side dash you can test it by checking the voltage to it, it will have a 3 pin plug the two outside pins are the live and earth and should be 12volts with ignition on the centre pin is the switch from the control unit this will have from 0 volts to 5 volts depending on the fan speed also check that the fan is not seized.
hope this helps

Agreed - sounds a lot like the 'regulator pack'. Do as above and check the output voltages. Also, pop 12v on the output and see if the fan fires up ok.

If so, I paid £125 from the dealer for mine and it was 20 mins to swap over.
