eco stopped June 2023 when AA change he’s main battery now I’m so desperate to have this working.

My Mercedes 2013 E250 diesel estate has had 3 new main batteries 2 new auxiliary .No faults on machine.Mercedes dealer charged me £1000 for new batteries and told to take it for a long run!!!!! So it’s been to Chester to Torquay and back and still not working. An expensive long run. Please help me I want this to work.is it the eco motor ? Please please give me the answer. Mercedes said it will just kick in . 3 more garages have looked. It’s been reprogrammed.thanks for looking

Sorry, you have been ripped off on the price of batteries
Main battery £250 maximum
Auxiliary battery £110 max.
DIY fitting easy as pie.

I wonder if the previous owner removed the stop/start fuse?
Do you have a constant amber light showing for the ECO ?
It should turn green when working correctly.

I would suggest taking the car to a Mercedes specialist (NOT a main dealer) where they can pinpoint exactly why your stop/start isn't functioning.
Where is your location so somebody may be able to suggest a good specialist?

You might want it to work but most celebrate when it stops working - or they turn it off as soon as they start the engine. There was a lot of talk about chain rattle / failure on the OM651 engine with Stop/Start being a potential cause / contributor. There's a thread here to have a read through for interest.

Low voltage is a known issue to stop the stop/start working. But in your case 3 new batteries & some long runs should have disapproved that one.
I hope you only paid for one battery, they have at least 3/5 years warranty on them?
My E350CDI is 13 years old & I still have the original battery. It goes on the charger/conditioner once a month if I dont use it.
Try a long overnight battery charge. If its still not working then I think AMGeed has the answer.

Mine was very hit and miss when i first got the car and like you i like things to work as they should.
Both batteries changed long run and still the same.
Recently been ill so not used the car so i put my Ctek charger on the car for 3 days and now the ECO turns green seconds after i start to drive the car every time.

This Mercedes specialist has been recommended on another forum.
I have no personal experience.

There are lots of parameters that need to be met before the Stop/Start function operates; battery condition (and whether the battery is the correct Ampage), ambient temperature, load on the battery from ancillaries especially COMAND and air conditioning I like a lot of owners on here just don’t bother if it doesn’t work it puts stress on some of the engine intervals.

If you want it to work put a decent battery on Varta is my choice and give it a top up charge before fitting

Were the new batteries registered correctly to the vehicle ?

Maybe the car still thinks the original battery is still fitted.

Not a fan of S/S but it not working points to a parameter not being met so if it were me i would rather have it working but switch it off than drive around knowing there is a problem somewhere in the matrix.

Mine works faultlessly and the car sees very little use. Sits all week at work.
Some weeks it isn't used at weekend so only does 40 miles total all week.
I wish the stop/start would pack up, it's a pain turning it off every time I get in the car.
