I went to have a remap and there was a problem loading map so the guy ordered a new ECU to clone but now he can't control immobiliser on/off and I was wondering if anyone can help regarding this. Also any ideas what the cost is with Merc for a new ECU or programme my ECU?

Your problem should lie firmly in the hands of the person who has screwed it up and shouldn't affect you at all.

No idea why he has ordered a new ECU, the last time I bought one was in 2014 and it was around £950 but that's before programming which, at the time, had to be done at Auto Logic in Oxford. Many other tuners now have the ability to do this.

If the car is still running I'd suggest getting it to a specialist to sort it out before it goes worse.

That's what I thought, he said he can put a second hand ECU and virginise it so Merc can put new map on he wants £150 for that and Merc same around £130. Don't see why I should pay as the fault lies with the tuning company i guess?

I can Unbrick the ecu on the bench, test it aswell and if the other electrician didnt erase the immobiliser data the ecu will start the car strainght away. But uf he mess the immobiliser data block it would be a case to get the ECU + Ignition switch + Keys in order to pair it again. This is possible on the bench aswell.

And regards to other thing. Merc dealer is not able to flash thr ecu once is bricked and they will try to sell you a new one once they have the car there. I'm speaking from experience and from what custors told me.

Is up to you wich way you choose to do it but.you have to keep in mind that either way it would not be.a "cheap and easy" fix.

Best regards
