Hi there,
Last week when my battery went low, appeared a couple of problems. I lost power, whne accelerate- black smoke was coming out from my exhaust and i could not drive more that 50 mph.I ve changed the battery (but put second hand ,as was on my balcony)and problems stopped but just for a couple of hours. When diagnosed the engine it appears egg valve problem. Then i cleaned egr valve and reset the engine management light which appeared on the computer. For a couple of days everything was all right but after a week the same things happened again and the management light is on again. I have message appearing on the computer as weel stating that ,,Batterry protection:Convenience functions temporally unavailable,, and my parking sensor are not working.
My questions is ,is this related to the battery i mean egg problems as battery may be low (today i am going to measure it) or i need to change my EGR valve?
As everything happened when my battery went low.
Tnx

Your main battery has still low voltage. Could be bad battery, failed voltage regulator, faulty alternator, drain current..

I"ve checked the voltage of a battery -is 12.5,and alternator is charging 14.5. I will checked as well the other battery which is under the bonnet. But is very strange because my parktronic are off and lighter charger is off as well, and according to the symptoms, should be low battery, but is not

Are the convenience functions down only shortly after start or during longer trip too?

Battery control module can be broken, happened sometimes. Car is shutting down power consumers, there are 3 levels to trigger. If I recall right, park sensors are in the first group. Check all groundings, near the battery, front/rear SAM.

And as diagnostic shows EGR problem, I wanted to make sure that is really it, as I read a lot of threads where appeared the same messages and after changing, problems remain the same

EGR is electrically actuated, so that may be the reason to EGR code. Continue with checking all fuses, groundings, etc.

Will check the other battery , and hopefully in Friday will check the fuses. It's most likely, that problems are connected, as everything happened when baterry went flat, then I've lost power, and in acceleration a black smoke was coming from the exhaust

I've checked the small battery-12.5, and when car is on is 14.7, so it's all right. It means that problem is somewhere else.
Do you know how to test EGR valve whether its all right? Any ideas?

hmm.. I'm not sure but I think aux battery should not be charged if voltage is ok, there is isolation relay which isolates aux battery line from main line. Relay faults has been reported so that should be checked. Still I cannot see it would cause the all electric troubles, unless due to continuous charge car sees voltage wrong (still battery control module may be faulty too).

I've no procedure for DIY EGR testing, with star something can be done. It's also quite common fail in I6 engines that membrane of the EGR fails.

Hi again ,I ve changed my EGR valve and the engine light went off by itself. After a couple of spins, car performed better but still smokes. Then I changed pressure sensor. No smoke ,car is like a bullet, but still sometimes when I am driving on a hill is going on a limp mode. Its throwing after diagnostic a 0105 001 check component b5/1 charge pressure sensor fault. I have to add that mechanic fixed second hand pressure sensor. Is it the problem in it ,or is somewhere else? Any ideas?
