Electric vehicles don't seem to have advanced a lot since there invention.
Petrol and diesel have advanced greatly over the last 40 years from being gas guzzlers to fuel misers.
To me the electric vehicle is not practical for out side city use.
If electric is going to be the future they should be able to recharge its own batteries without the ad of a fossil fuel engine on board.
I have never really understood why this isn't possible. You can recharge rechargeable batteries by plugging them into to an electric plug at home, so why not plug your ev into an electrical charging socket in the ev
That would make more sense and you wouldn't need a charge point on the journey....Or am I just no getting it :(
It might work if you put a wind generator on the roof. Then as you drive the wind generator will charge the battery.

;)

we are still waiting for 3G phone capability in a good part of our country and yet they are trying to flog 5G at the moment , the infrastructure for mobile phone technology is a damn site more simple to set up than a charging network capable of running a country full of electric cars , its all very well trying to get as all to move across to them but there isn't 1 charging point in my town currently and no plans for them to be installed in the near future ! So who in their right mind would swap to electric until the government invest in a charging system for the masses ??

remember the gov dont "invest" their money its ours !!! or at least i always thought it was . bet there will be charging points in most ,in power, MP,S home areas.

You could only recharge the EV from the EV if you only ever drove downhill... Otherwise you've invented a perpetual motion device and you'll be stoned as a heretic

My whole life has been going downhill since I was born...........Maybe I should have bought an ev back in '59, I would have never run out of charge, never would have bought petrol, diesel, nor would I have contributed to global warming over the years, nor would I be enjoying all these beautiful hot days driving around in convertibles with the air con on full blast,................So glad I didn't buy ev in '59 :D

I believe a Fisker Karma has a solar panel on the roof. Any idea what the range is of one of those ?? I guess night time driving is out of the question

It has, the range is 32 miles until the 2.0l 4 pot petrol engine in the front kicks in and generates electricity to power the motors

I watched a very interesting program last night that discussed battery developments. Using graphene it's possible to produce a battery that's 60% more capacity than lithium, charges in 5 minutes and can be integrated into the structure of the vehicle.
The main ingredient is carbon so no major difficulty sourcing it and less environmental impact too.
