Isn't the biggest problem with electric cars going to be residual values? Who wants to buy a 7 year old EV with no range due to knackered batteries? On top Gear last week it was said that the effective range of the "11" plate Nissan Leaf was 35 miles ! That would be like driving with the fuel light on constantly and who likes to drive like that? Battery technology is the key so I think I shall wait a while jumping to an EV. By then it won't matter as I will probably be asking whether the visitors have been whilst dribbling.....
This is why EVs are moving to a car + battery-leasing model of sale instead.

Can't we just replicate the highly efficient human body I could shovel old food in the back and off I would go.
If a cyclist was powered by petrol he/ she could manage 14,000mpg... and yes that’s the right number of zeroes!

That looks a bit Eastern Bloc, does that mean that they are better prepared than we are in the west ?

We're already running on roughly 40-50% fossil fuel leccy with another 25% home grown or imported nuclear, so a tad more from Belgium isnt gonna do much damage to our less than green credentials! Nothing remotely green about EV unless you charge them in the dead of night when the wind is blowing.

Re-charge infrastructure, range, depreciation, road noise, ugliness, only green at point of use, otherwise anything but green, to name but a few :(
Yes AJD.....I have not seen any " Cradle to the Grave" comparisons done... especially when you hear about latest generation engine's ( petrol + diesel ) carbon footprint..... and give the tidal wave of greenery we are facing nowaday's, I don't see anyone pushing any comparisons... you cannot even raise your hand over the ICE parapet without getting it shot off by the Green's at the moment.

It was blowing here today but by nightfall it has become very calm, which happens quite regularly if you think about it, so, no wind at night, or sun, that just leaves hydro or nuclear for 'cheap electricity'.
