Hiya, Ill reply to this thread as I have a similar issue, just boiught a clk320 convertable, 2002. The temp and clocks were fine, first they started to lose parts of the digita, not they are both just empty. Any ideas on where to look, or know any reasonable repairers in the SE London area?

regards

I had the same problem with mine, an 2000 e220Cdi, fortunately I was able to get the dealer that I bought it from to go halves as a replacement dash was about £700.00.

The temp and clock are seperate units within the dash, but they are not available from MB, so you have to buy the complete unit.

Having said that, a friend who has an E 240 has scrounged my old dash as he is sure that there are companies that can repair them.

Been there, done that.

There are a few threads on DIY repairs. Some have had more success than others. The fault is caused by a poor connection between the display ribon cable and the circuit board. The displays themselves are fine. The fix is to make a small wedge from an eraser and place it so that it puts pressure on the connection. Some have managed to fix them but not everyone has been succesful.

If you fancy having a go, there is a post in the DIY section (from me) on how to strip it down.
If you're not that brave/mad then ....
I just googled "mercedes cluster repair" and got a screen full of people who fix them so take your pick.
All a far cry from when mine went 4 years ago and nobody wanted to know!
speedofixer.co.uk is well known as is bba-reman but there are lots of other no-doubt reputable folk out there. £100-£200 is the going rate.

As above - the displays are not faulty - it's just the connections.

He will still need to get the cluster recoded to his car so it would probably be cheaper for him to get his own repaired. Plus, your dash is from a 4 cylinder diesel and his is a 6 cylinder petrol so the tacho and other settings will be all wrong.
