HI,

I have a WDB2200632A S280 Yr 2000

The car is over heating, so I had a look at the vehicle and found that the fan, which is belt driven, motor or the top of the fan fixing was running at one speed and never reaches the point where it use to really spin up. If I turn on the Aircon, which is only giving out warm air but the fan cuts in and runs at slow speed, or if the engine gets to 95 degrees the fan cuts in slowly.

I have checked fuses 33 and 48 and they are intact and fine. I have not checked any relays, but then I dont know which ones to check.

My initial thoughts are that it could be a heat sensor or relay of sorts, or it could be the motor?

Can someone advise, many thanks in advance

Will go out on a limb a bit here as I don't know these cars, I've had my share of overheating nonsense though:

1) If the motor only has two wires, then it probably is only designed to run at a single speed, which is normally the case with rad fans. My guess would be that the motor is switched on either by a thermal switch or by having on the air-con and both of those seem to work.
2) If it's turning slowly, then the problem is most likely that the fan itself has partially seized. Disconnect the motor and try spinning it by hand, it should be be good and spinny.
3) Over-heating is usually down to something else; the fan cutting in or not after it's overheated is a secondary problem (and, indeed, this is usually when you discover it's seized...).
