Help! The passenger side front seat headrest (electric) on my '95 W124 has packed up, the motor whirrs when the button is operated but the headrest stays put. It used to get stuck in its lowest position when it was working before, and I had to apply a bit of upward pressure whilst operating the control button and it would come up and work again. However, the last time I did this, there was a sort of little rattling sound from inside the seat back and the thing stopped working. It would seem one has to get the back off the seat to get at the guts of the thing - any ideas how? All polite suggestions welcome!!
PS Does the Brooklands offer any advantages over the Haynes or does it merely duplicate?

Cant help you on the back rest (not had to do it yet and manual seats any way :( ).

I bought both the Haynes and the Brooklands 124 manuals.

IMHO the brooklands will remain pristine, the Haynes will (and already is to a degree) be sporting a lot of grease and grime!

Not impressed by the Brooklands manual. But to be fair there may come a time when I will refer to it to clarify a Haynes moment!

Biggest disapointment was that the Brooklands does not acknowledge the existance of self-levelling suspension (neither manual covers the 4-matic!).

Hope this helps.

After posting my previous reply I decided to do a comparison of the two manuals!

The Haynes uses predominantly photos whilst the Brooklands uses line drawings.

The Brooklands manual is much better on trouble shooting!
It goes into much more detail for Ignition and fuel systems.

My udated opinion is now to buy both! :?
