The driver's seat and now passenger seat will not move forward or backwards. All other electric functions i.e. up/down work OK. I have checked fuses under bonnet and in rear boot. All OK. Operation of forward / backward switches cause clicking sound but motors do not operate. Other than disonnecting the battery and re-connecting to force a system re-boot can anyone provide an alternative suggestion?

No, I tried that. I have also had a quick look under the seats to make sure there are no disconnected cables.

hi colin you have the same prob as me ! my seats do all the functions but dont move back and forward i also have a 430 clk. mine also make a clicking sound to like a relay. a few people have said it could be a few things one they have like a maximum limit thing and then need resetting or something. when i get my car back from the spray shop i have a mb mechanic who is getting the computer and going to reset my computer and try that if that doesnt work he is going to look at the motors and any other causes. stay in touch let me know how you get on if you find the solution before i do let me know !
thanks

i have a 2001 200clk conv with 90000km on it the seats and fron electric windows all the time stop working i have to open the fuse box and jiggle the fuses around then you can hear the motors starting and everything is fine for a few days. Merc dealer says they cant find anything wrong lol... Your prob sounds a bit like mine so if you do find any answers pls let me know.

Just one little note, when taking fuses in and out it can reset some electronics.

At least this shows that the seat motors are OK also often indicating the module is at fault and locking up internally

The seats need normalising. The car needs to be hooked up to a STAR machine and the seat normalisation procedure run. This should fix it so long as the motors are okay.

Have to say though, I had a couple of seat motors replaced on my last 320 CLK.

CLK seats stuck - not moving forwards or backwards

Sounds like a common CLK problem; can anyone enlighten me more on the normalisation and STAR process as i would like to diagnose my problem before visiting a main dealer.

I've got the same problem with my W208 CLK320. Passenger side seat functions fine apart from fore & aft movement. I get the same clicking sound when the button is selected!
Would also be really interested to hear of any solutions!
Cheers!:)

Apologies for delay in responding.

After a mild panic, I was very lucky in that it was a blown 25 amp fuse, caused I believe by a heavy person moving the seat while sitting in it. However contrary to the other posts, the fuse, was FS6. In the rear fusebox, to the right of the spare wheel, check all the 25 amp fuses which are in the left hand bank, mine was third back.

Good luck.

Non of the fuses under the bonnet or in the boot have blown. Clicking sound from the right seat when the fore and aft switch is moved. The left seat is ok but it does not perform the 'track forward' function when the lever is lifted to allow access to the rear. The right seat fore and aft function failed the other day when I lifted the lever to let someone in the back. Its all very frustrating ? I have had the fuses blow in the past, has anyone got any tips on how to get the system up and running again? Before I go and get Merc to relieve me of loads of dosh!!

Cheers.

Any ideas?

Hi guys.

I have been trying to suss out this problem after months of ignoring it.

The car is not due a service for another 4000 miles, so am reluctant to approach a merc dealer to have the seats looked at until then.

Has anyone tackled this problem recently? It seems odd how the seats can intermittently work then fail again. However both my seats seem to be permenantly inoperable moving fore and aft now.

Is it simply a star diagnostics matter, or the more expensive seat motor replacement? I have read about poor electrical continuity in the seat motor circuit also.

I suppose that it would be unwise to try and investigate the problem on my own. So any tips will be greatlt appreciated!

Cheers :)
