Hi guys/gals,

I have a problem with the electric seats in my 2000 CLK 430 Elegance.

The motor that drives the seat forward has failed. As far as I know there are different motors for each seat operation i.e one to let seat rise, another for backrest, another for headrest.

When the drivers seat went originally, Merc put the dyno on the car and wiped the memory. This fixed it and the window which, as now, wouldn't close.

The problem has re surfaced and this time it hasnt worked

On taking it to the Merc dealer with the intention of getting it fixed, first of all they said clearing the memory wouldn't fix it.

In the end because a full seat motor was expensive, and I needed two, they got the seats working as they are now, which is very little indeed. The drivers seat doesnt go forward/backwards/up or down and the passenger seat will only go back if you raise it up! Nightmares!

Are there any simpler/cheaper remedies to fix the seats?

Any advice welcome!

Cheers jon.

I think that your fault is in the door controllers in the doors, we have never had a faulty motor yet

It would seem that the easiest way around this is to remove the memory wire from the controllers in the doors, its worth a try as the modules are expensive
