electric windows failure

I have a c230k sport 1998, periodically either nsf, osf or both windows will fail to work, wing mirrors also stop working. sun roof ok all the time as are rear windows. If I disconnect the battery for a few seconds, all is well, for a while. Sounds odd, but it seems to happen overnight, can be working fine when I stop the car, next day fault appears, it's been like this for over a year, I think I ought to try to fix it.

I would be very grateful for any suggestions.
