Hi guys, first post from me and greetings to you all!

Thanks to our lousy Scottish winters my W210 electric windows are putting a little more strain on the motors than I would like. Even after a good wash inside and out they're not as smooth as they used to be.

Without taking the door trim off (is this a big job for a noob?) what can I do? I guess a squirt of WD40 down there would leave me with a very smeary window?!?!

Thanks in advance,

George.

Hi,

I would try Rain X or Halfords version of this and see how it goes. Use it on the inside and outside of glass.

Had same problem last year, resulting in both the rear window winder gear failing. After replacing same, which required dismantling the door trim, I lubricated the channels and operating mechanism with a silicon spray from a local caravan shop, the stuff suitable for plastic and rubber (Made by Thetford for use on their toilets!) and did the same for the front windows, but without removing the door trim. Had to clean the windows again but the treatment lasted and indeed so far the windows are still running smooth. :)
