Hi All, I seem to have the aged wiring issue in that my wing mirror indicator will work intermittently, if closed it sometimes will flash but otherwise its dead. So, I'm guessing that the wires have aged and are suffering from the daily open and close. Does anyone know what colour wire I need to replace to get the lights blinking again. I have no issues with the mirror folding so that power is ok but flashing needs looking at.

You probably have at least one broken wire in the loom that connects to the plug in the mirror indicator.
It maybe working intermittently when the broken wire(s) touch each other.
Constant folding of the mirrors stretches the wires and inevitably one or more will break.

Take the mirror housing off (video below) and trace the wires back into the door controller inside the door card for a break.
They usually stretch at the hinge area of the mirror.

It's usually a matter of soldering the broken wires together with heat shrink insulation over the joint.

Thx for taking the time to reply. I'm that far already just wanted a shortcut to locate the wire as can't see a break. Dont suppose you know which colours control the flashing?

Hi Chris
Just had same problem, all wires in my mirror to the indicator were black!
Repaired each wire one at a time.
See "Repairing the wing mirror indicator on a 211" on here, it may help explain. The thread certainly helped me confirm my actions to sort the problem.
