I have a 1983 300D Turbodiesel. Has run very well and only 145,000 miles on it.

I was having electrical problems, had the voltage regulator replace, and replaced the battery, as it had been strained from the issues and was still under warranty, but the battery light started coming on almost immediately. I then noticed the brake light and engine light were also on, but barely. Everything ran well, so I let it go for a day or two.

Last night I was driving home and the interior lights all started to fade out, eventually going to black. I made it home before the headlights went out, but I was more than a little concerned.

i have heard that the dim dashboard warning lights might suggest a bad diode - Should the diodes be where I start?

Thanks

Yes depending on what diode has gone down on the reg pack.
This will give just a very dim warning light, as it is only charging by a tiny amount

thanks! I'll pass it along to my mechanic, although I need to find a good electrical specialist as I've had similar problems before.

I'll see if I can find one nearby - I'm in Los Angeles, so I'm not sure your link will help :)
