I have a problem with my driver seat head rest control will not lower the head rest also the wing mirror fold back switch will only allow the wing mirrors to fold back and not return pressing the return button. I am sure I have an electrical fault but have no diagram to work from, any help would be much appreciated. The car is a CLK320 02 plate. Thanks

I think that spraying some Silicon or PTFE in to the moving hinge section would solve the mirror problem

Hi Malcolm Thanks for the reply. This is my first Merc so just getting use to the controls. The return button does not seem to operate the motor that returns the mirrors to their original position. If I press the button that folds them in they fold in on both sides OK and the motor keeps running with an audible clicking like a slipping clutch if I keep the fold button pressed.
Any ideas?

Then this could be just a wire off the back of the switch, or has the switch gone, a meter would soon check this out

You could be right I'll check it if I can get at the buttons. Any idea on how to get at the back of the switches? I have multi meter with a low ohm facility that I can check the continuity with. Again thanks for your assistance.

Hi Malcolm
I have discovered something else. The convenience setting is set to fold the wing mirrors when parking, this does not work either. Do you think that a power down/up reset with do any good? In case the ECU needs a reset?

Need a Electrical Diagram for CLK320 2002

Has anyone got or can they provide an electrical diagram for a CLK 320 2002?
I have a number of electrical faults and would like to fix them. As I go through the repairs I will post the fix details.
Thanks

The motor slipping and still running problem when the mirrors have folded in is fairly common as it happens on a lot of vehicles, and isnt neccessarily a problem. I would get your car on to a diagnostic machine .STAR .and have the faults reset, then check which ones come back. most will be only stored faults and will cancel.
