OK, it all started with a frozen radio. It stuck on and no buttons would work. I disconnected the battery for a bit, which seemed to reset it OK.

Then the ESP warning came on intermittently then it came on to stay. Then the brake lights stayed on permanently. Then the SRS warning light came on and went off. Then the handbrake warning light stayed on when the handbrake was released. Then the brake fluid level warning came on.

I changed the brake light switch, which cured everything apart from the brake lights staying on - for about five minutes!

Now I have brake lights permanently on, esp warning, srs warning, and a lovely new warning - display failure go to workshop, which is accompanied by all of the dash lights flashing like a Christmas tree and the blowers blowing when they feel like it.

It's a C200K 2002 and I hate it!

Any ideas???

Thanks for that.

I've had a think and all of the fuses that relate to the problem areas are in the front sam, so I think it might be that one.

Theres a place near me called BBA Remnan who rebuild them, according to their website, so I might give them a shout.

Should I get it plugged in first to check?

The rear lights staying on are the rear SAM

Yes the front N10/1 SAM controls the exterior lamps ESP and Cigar lighter (radio)

I do not think that they are repairable

It has to be coded to the car

You can fit it yourself, and get an indie to code it to the car

Agree with Malc again here, disconnecting the battery has fried the rear sam, thats gonna cost!! You might also see no central locking and no fuel gauge, if you can see the both then you have cooked front and rear sams!
