I had a bit of a play in the car park at lunch time with my new 250 TD

1) passenger front window. Found blown fuse. changed fuse and it blew again. The switch for the front window didnt feel right so I hoiked it out and tried it on the drivers side, nothing, but noticed another fuse had blown. Hoiked out switch again changed both fuses and used the known good switch on both, drivers side fine, passenger side whirs but no movement - thats one step closer.

2) Rear window drivers side. Linked on same fuse as front left, after above it still didnt work - no noise so more investigation needed - that's when it starts getting complicated within the wiring I think! I tried both the switch on the door and the one up front and there is nothing - I guess it could be as simple as a switch somewhere as I think the power normally goes through both, I guess I could some of the known good switches over again.

3) Fog lights, fuse had been removed (probably to use on the window circuit), replaced the fuse and two fronts and one rear works, I'm not sure if there is one or two at the rear, but I think one is enough to pass an MOT test.

4) "Bungee drive", replies so far suggest its most likely worn engine/gearbox/diff rubber mounts. Certianly the guy last night said that he thought they might need doing (probably knew they needed doing!). I rocked the engine and it does feel a bit loose.

5) Glow plug light doesn't work - not investigated yet (not that important right now). I'll test for a live at the glow plug when the ignition is in the last position before starting I think. Unless there are some suggestions on that one?

Can anyone tell me where I can get cheep spares mail order or somewhere near Basingstoke, Bracknell or Reading please?

Thanks for all yuor replies to other posts helping out :)

Your Mercedes
2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
the switches do go dry jointed and can be soldered up.

It is fairly easy to jack the engine and change the mounts
