Having a problem with my 03 W211 but only periodically. When i start the car the right hand side headlight comes on accompanied by a message on the display stating {service brake , visit workshop}. The outside temperature reading also tells me that it is 85*C. These indications disappear after @ 10/15 minutes driving. Any suggestions please.

It sounds like the front SAM is playing up. Get the faults read by a Star.

Thanks for your reply, but can you tell me what exactly this faulty part is [sam], as the car is still under warrantyfrom the dealer. It has been back once before and it was supposed to have been cured of this problem. I would like to be forearmed before i go back again, as i don't have much patience for main dealers. Thanks again.

The SAM is a signal acquisition module, its where many circuits share information

In a simple term, the sam is where all your fuses and relays are plug in, it is a black box in front and rear of your car (depending on your car), as for location they are on the driver side near the wind screen in my car and the rear one is in the boot, I didn't know what or where they are untill a few moths a go, but then again i could still be wrong.
