Electronic speedo

The speedo has packed up on my 02 reg Vito , The transducer is ok as the taximeter still works as does the trip and odometer .The speedo will start to flick once you get up to 60mph but thats it . The speedo incorporates "service assyst". Everything else still works in the cluster.

Fortunatley my "Road Pilot" has a GPS speedo and I have set it as default .

Can the speedo be repaired or is it a thow away job and need to replace the whole cluster . It looks as if this is an expensive replacement if it cant be repaired which I could well do without at the moment .

This fault would I think be a connection fault or dry joint in or near the speedo head. it must be worth opening it up and checking
