I have a 2018 A Class AMG.

I got a letter through the post to say the emergency call/positioning system has been recalled and it needs updating at a dealership because the remote update failed.

Took it in and the update keeps aborting at the Mercedes dealer.

So now I can’t have my car back until it gets updated. They are going to try again tomorrow. What difference will that make having it for longer?

What happens if it won’t update? Do I never get my car back?

Seriously not happy. I’ve only had the car since May 2022 and it’s low mileage and passed it’s MOT this week but this update is worrying me if they cannot succeed.

Anyone had the same or knows what the solution is. I just want my car back!

Thank you

Hello and welcome,

It means they can’t track it… so if you stop paying the PCP they don’t know where it is to recover it…

If it won’t update they’ll probably change the module out, or keep trying to update the software.

Hi Blobcat,

Thank you and thank you for the welcome.

I hope it does it’s thing tomorrow but if they need to swap the module out, it’s looking like more than a few days off the road.

There’s me thinking it’ll be a simple job
