I've never had one of these space saver wheels before - should they come with specific wheel bolts or do you use the normal ones? I don't appear to have any with the wheel but using alloy type bolts doesn't seem right on a steel space-saver.

If the space saver is alli,,then it will be the same thickness.

Just remove one wheel bolt from the car and place it in the space saver wheel, and there should be around 12mm sticking out of the rear,,then you will be sure

No, that was the thing I was wondering - it's a steel wheel.

Then the alli bolts Can not be used in the rear!!

You should have a plastic slim bag with the shorter bolts!!

It depends really, previous space saver or steel spare wheels did come with shorter bolts which were fitted into a plastic case which clipped onto the bolt holes on the spare wheel. Newer space saver wheels are made to use the normal wheel bolts as so many people were using them anyway and making a serious mess of their hubs.

Mine (04 E270) uses the same bolts, as does my friends on his 05 E320. Spent ages trying to find the short bolts when he got a puncture in the office car park. Turned out there weren't any. In the end, we bolted the space saver on (rear) and then gently spun it by hand, feeling for anything catching. It didn't so we figured we were ok.
