Hi all, I have a 2010 C class 220cdi which failed to start, the AA towed it to Mercedes of Gatwick who diagnosed a failed starter mother, I had them fit a new unit just shy of a grand and whilst there they hi lighted a few things which will need addressing but firstly when we picked the car up the EML was on but wasn't beforehand I've had it scan and have 3 codes relating to the DPF namely P2463-97.P244A-00 & P244A-7A,
I questioned them about these and was told it was not related to any work they'd carried out eg. fitting a new starter motor.
What I'd like to know is what the codes mean, is it a matter of going for a motorway drive or something more serious.
Can I add they highlighted an oil leak from the oil filter/housing area, would this be easily accessible for me to remove to examine repair or replace.
Thanks all

Who read the codes with what tool and what did the computer say.

Looks like it needs a forced regen. Look at fill levels in live data to confirm.

Before attempting a forced regen I would check the 'live' differential pressure readings are realistic.
Is getting to the starter awkward, is it possible they have disturbed the wiring to it?
There are also 1 or 2 exhaust temperature sensors that 'may' have been affected.
These may be relevant as they, as well as other engine sensors, need to provide acceptable information to the ECU. Other engine sensors are less likely to be disturbed during a starter replacement.

They did an engine software update as there was an outstanding recall

I asked because during my engine out / in (different mo mo, different engine) I had disturbed the wiring to the dp sensor. Previous to my ownership the wiring had been too close to the exhaust and been baked, my disturbing it had caused issue. It was reading 12 ohms on 1 leg (of the 3 wires).

It wasn't apparent but diagnostics kept telling me that the reading was 'implausible'.

By checking each wire from ECU to dp plug I discovered why. For that you need know which pins are relevant at the ECU.
I soldered a patch into the wiring, a little longer so I could tie the wiring back more securely.

If inserting probes into plug terminals be cautious. The probes might well flare the connection and cause future problems (I've suffered that by a previous tester, previous Viano). I use needles into plugs and croc onto those, being careful not to short the pins.

That’ll be your issue, the recall was an optional update for changes to the exhaust system, with that applied you also need new NOX sensors as the older ones aren't compatible and throw an eml. Best thing you can do it take it back to Mercedes and tell them it well documented and ask for good will to replace the nox sensors.
Have a search on here and you’ll see it’s been well seen by lots of members old and new

Have checked connections all look OK then Mercedes phoned to book me in for an airbag recall and I've question him regarding the software update, EML and NoX sensors and it's going in on Monday for the airbags and they "will have a look" for me, I'll keep you posted

Sorry for the delay ,have been away but I took it for the airbag recall told them about EML after software update when I picked it up they were adamant it was not connected with their update but could book it in to be done well I've not taken them up on their kind offer but am looking for a definitive diagnosis before I start replacing sensors, any suggestions I'm based in CR5 if anyone can recommend somewhere. Thanks

From what I gather if they plug ur car in for any reason almost first thing is update often with no reference to you. Many stories of horrors occurring shortly after, even before you can leave the dealer.

Find a good indy. I believe I have read about origional emissions sensors not being compatable with the updated soft ware.?
