Engine / exhaust noise

Not sure if this is in the correct section or not? I have a 2011 E220 estate avantgarde, it's not to loud when your outside of the car but once your in it it seems louder, when you pull away normally (not with a heavy foot) it sounds like it has a sports exhaust fitted, the sort of thing a boy racer would fit, it sort of burbbles / roars, and if you do have a heavy foot it sounds like the exhaust has a hole in it and is blowing, I've been underneath it and the exhaust is intact with no holes.

Turbochargers stop a lot of noise , so much you can run some engines without a down pipe and not notice much difference apart from burbling at idle.
Look closer towards the front of the car around the turbo /front down pipe area
