Hello everyone.

So this is my first post on here and was hoping someone could shed some light on an issue that I am having. This is my first Mercedes I have owned and first diesel as previously I was a Honda fan in my younger days.

So my engine light came on and my car wouldn’t rev above 3000rpm. It doesn’t effect the speed I can go as when I go up the gears as long as my revs are below 3000 it’s fine however my acceleration is very slow. This happened maybe 2 weeks ago then ran fine for a few days. The last few days the engine light has stayed on and my car won’t rev over 3000rpm at all.

My daily drive to work is about 20miles round trip with approximately 14miles of motorway. I was going to take my car a long drive at his revs to try and clear anything but can’t do that as like I said it’s not going about 3000rpm at all.

If anyone could help that would be great. Was going to book my car in to find out what the code error was but thought I would try here first as am thinking this might have happened to someone before.

My car is a 2013 A200CDI efficiency with 31,000miles on it and has been serviced every year with no issues at all.

Thanks in advance for any info and if more info is required I will do my best to provide it.

Cheers

Sounds like the car is in "limp mode " to protect the car . You really need an MB Indy with a Star computer system to isolate the exact reason this has happened . Where do you live so an MB Indy can be recommended ?

I take it, it is a MANUAL transmission.

Given the ops car is a diesel that link isn't that helpful.

Get a scan and then decide what's what .

I bought a cheap ass OBD reader from the net they are super basic BUT do point you in the directed of issues sometimes. Mine recently went into limp mode exactly as yours so I plugged it in and it said DPF temp sensor bank 1 sensor 1. I looked up where the sensor was changed it and no issues since. Prob saving me a couple hundred in the readys.

Limp mode can be due to a myriad of faults.
Don’t be throwing money at replacing bits and bobs.
Get it in star and get it fixed once and properly with a good indy.
