E class coupe 2016
Good evening,
I have a Mercedes e class coupe 2016 and a few weeks ago after filling up the coolant the engine light came on and collision break inoperative warning light.
i took it to my local garage and was advised two sensors need replacing; the nox sensor and the collision sensor. Whilst waiting to get them replaced the engine light has now gone off.
the collision warning is still showing so I presume I still need to replace this but is it possible that the nox sensor has fixed itself?
I had not driven it much for the weeks prior to both warning lights?
Any help on this would be hugely appreciated as I’m not too clued up about cars and it’s a pretty hefty bill!
Thanks
Alice

Not driving it for weeks ,says to me your main battery is of low state of charge, hence the warnings. If you must not use the car ,hook it up to a smart charger overnight once in a while.

And find a Mercedes specialist instead of a local garage. They have the correct diagnosis equipment to del with specific Mercedes faults.

Thank you for your replies. It’s really appreciated.
Is it likely that it’s fixed itself it it was the battery?
it’s a Mercedes specialist that I have been to but whilst waiting to get booked back in the light has gone back off.

Low voltage is the answer to most faults and the first port of call. Get the battery charged up and if the faults self correct cancel any repairs .. buy a smart charger off ebay £20. And use it in prolonged periods of non use .

NOx sensor issue on a 2016 Mercedes - I presume diesel engine's car - is normal... the sensors were somewhat average at first manu.

Many owners have been through a painful cycle... Mk3 sensors and 3 software updates are the correct fix. Making the confusion harder to follow was the Merc dieselgate scandal. Mercedes UK have been using this recall as an opportunity to cover up the defective sensor faults and keep the money lots of owners have been through.

Mk2 NOx sensors we equally useless, as where a number of engine software attempts to resolve. After various "challenges", the correct fix is to update Merc records for your car with one software update, that now informs a legitimate dealership, that it should have Mk3 NOx sensors, this then needs the SCR module and the Engine ECU to be flashed with software that is actually capable of operating all the emission systems effectively.... (and legally).
