Morning all
Only back into an S class a week and a problem

08 plate S 320 CDI

Car starts fine and drives perfectly but.... shortly after starting its glow plug light comes on for about a minute goes out and doesn’t return til the next start up - it’s now put on the engine management light (on continuously) when read error code P2084 appears twice with two pending

it’s awaiting service (overdue 12 days) and is off to a local Merc Indy when things get back to normal est.11/05

Would a run of the car at speed help it or worse damage it? In its options list it has a DPF but doesn’t seem to have an indicator lamp instructing a cleaning cycle - how do you know when it’s required?

thanks
D

Get the car plugged in to STAR/diagnoatics at a reputable indy.

your problem could be one of a hundred things.

DPF regens are automatic. usually no intervetion needed from owners

Thanks for your reply,
My ODB scanner lists the fault as code P2084 - twice and two pending - as I said car runs perfectly- but I’m curious what the garage is likely to report

Glow plug light coming back on after the car is started usually is a faulty glow plug or two , well it was on my CLS.

EML could be many things so until the fault codes are read then anything else is speculation, it could be a sensor , well it was on my CLS.

it’s off to Benza Autos (Wirral) hopefully on the 11/05 if things improve and a refurb of its AMG alloys at some point - any recommendations?
