engine missfire/lack of power.

hi all. ihave posted an earlier thread with no answers so i thought i would try again with more info. in a morning the car starts but misses badly and seams to backfire in the throttle body,if you turn the car off and then start it again it dosnt seem as bad. if you drive away it is a very notchy gear change until high revs are acheaved.once it gets to temp it seems to run ok but lacks power when trying to accelerate away or over take. i have just serviced the car, plugs filters etc but made no differance.i have changed the ext tubes on the bottom of the coils ,but no differance.there are no warning lights on the dash either, i am now lost as to where to go or what to do next. can someone help. c180 `1.8 elegance 1996/7 saloon petrol. thanks chris.

Have you tried the MAF, this is one thing that respond differently when you re start, you could try the car with it unplugged 5 in the link

hi television, just been out to the tip and did what u suggested. started the same and ran a little worse but not much.also the other thing it did was to put the electric fan on until reconnected.also forgot to put that gear change is also slightly erratic and slow to go into 5th.reconnected when the temp was at 80 and it ran almost as norm other than struggles when acc away.

hi guys, havent done anything yet was going to drop on star at local independant merc dealer before commiting to buying a maf sensor. will let u know how i get on .thanks agian for your thoughts, chris.
