Where is the ID located on a 190e 201 engine?

Seeing as none of the 190 owners seem to be online, I'll try to answer:

On the pre-93 4 cy engines of w124 (2.0 and 2.3), the engine no. is on the front
of the engine and on the left from drivers perspective (right side looking from front)

Just to let peeps know where the exact location is, when looking from the front, its right hand side under the area where airbox sits roughly level with injector 4, the number is on a raised edge. You'll prolly need to wipe it over!

Engine no.

And on 260, 300, 300-24, its on the oposite side (drivers side) at the front also.

And on 500, on the passenger side, back of engine (rear Left side)

and on the R171 it will be under the bonnet in the engine bay somewhere. mite take a look one day...when the washer bottle needs filling. will let you know if i venture into the unknown.
