I have no history with my 320 clk, the obvious option is to give it an oil and filter change anyway. But I was wondering, when she gets up to temperature she sounds a bit bottom endy, would that confirm it needs changing? Also which oil should I use as europarts and gsf says various from 0-40 variations.
Thanks again guys for all your valued contributions.

was it a recent purchase and did the PO mention any "faults".

Whats the oil condition like?

What year is the car?

I bought the car from a deceased estate therefore no history or even v5. She is a 2004 clk 320 convertible with 124000 miles. Ive had it for 6 months and done about 1000 miles only to and from work about 4 miles each way. It’s fine when cold but when warm sounds a bit knocky bottom end.

A car of that era would have been MB229.3. Would been superseded now.
My W220 of the same era uses mobil 1.

Whats the oil condition like - colour wise.

An oil change on a new to you car wont do any harm.

That V6 is a very strong engine. I would check simple things like harmonic balancer/crankshaft pulley, engine mounts, belt tensioner, ac compressor etc for cause of noise before assuming bottom end.
