engine removal

can any one tell me the quickest way to drop the engine on my a140 99 ..looking at it i could take all the front end of drop the legs and sub frame is this the way to go....:?

We have a thread on this a few weeks back and no it is better to hire a hoist and lift it.

I will try and fine the thread for you,it was for a 126 but damn near yours.

thanks for that ,i think i might drop the whole lot as the engine is such a weird shape , getting to the bolts that hold the engine to the subframe is a pig...they seem to have gone to much for safety than serviceability..

If you can get that engine into an A140 I will be very impressed :cool:

That is one of the problems with having chassis numbers similar to model numbers - W140 & A140

That is one of the problems with having chassis numbers similar to model numbers - W140 & A140

I think it should have read "can I get that engine into a 140"

I almost past on the thread as I dont do the A cless.

yes i think i was misunderstood my merc is an a class a140 and not a w140...any more input on the a class engine removal will be greatly appreciated.

Yes you are doing the right thing,it does come out with the carrier, I have 18 pages of how to take it out.
