Please help!!! 2005 slk200 stutters under load. Idle is stable if on motorway ease of gas then firm up engine misses. Seems worse on very cold of wet days. I have recent had fuel pump changed plus Two vac hoses. There are no error lights showing. Last time at indie change of burst vac hose improved running by 90% but still this prob indie says keep till error light shows. Can anyone please suggest solution.

What about spark plugs? I had a Ford Cougar V6 before the W203 and the recommended interval between plug changes was 60K miles. A couple of times I had stuttering under load and it was always when the plugs had done about 55K miles. If the R171 is anything like the R170 they are cheap and easy to replace. The last Bosch set I bought from ECP were about £12.

Thanks for your reply I was thinking about plugs and coils. The plugs were changed about 20k ago. Would there engine management light come on with a plug misfire. I have no malfunctions showing and no error lights

Probably unlikely that the engine management light would come on. Plugs are definitely worth a try and relativley inexpensive. Failing that I would seriously consider getting an independent specialist to put it on STAR to see what faults are coming up. This could save you a lot of money in the long run rather than just changing parts in the hope the problem will be fixed.
