Hello, I have a 2014 C200 (w205) and have just noticed that when I leave the climate control system off when first starting and driving the car (from cold) the engine temperature appears to warm up very quickly ( up towards 80 degrees within a mile of driving) which also means that the start-stop feature becomes accessible much faster than normal. The moment I turn the climate control on, the engine temperature display appears to drop by half and takes longer to get back up to temperature.
Now I realise that the climate control system works by taking heat away from the engine but is this apparent drop normal? I thought the car was meant to properly get up to temperature first before diverting heat towards the climate control system?
Coincidentally, the demist function for the front screen seems to take an age when the outside temperature is cold(in fact it generally gets much worse for the first 1-2 minutes or so) and I can’t help wondering if the air flow is being directed through/across something that it shouldn’t be while the engine is still cold resulting in the blowing of moist air over the windscreen.
Apologies if this is a badly worded question!
Many thanks for your thoughts and suggestions,
Lewkah.
