Engine upgrade for CLK220 CDI

Morning all. Has anyone tried any of the products on offer to wring more performance out of a CLK220 CDI e.g. Brabus, Carlsson etc. ?

I'd be interested to hear. My 6.9 has made way for a new CLK220 CDI.

yup - chip it. Just be aware that insurance assessors now check for chip boxes if you have a prang. Fine if you have time to remove it before they get there but risky if not. I tried to ask my insurer about a chip box but didn't get anywhere. The only downside I've heard of is premature wear on the injectors.

I spoke to my insurance company about shipping my 320 Cdi. No problems, they even gave me a quote entirely based on the increase of power in % coompared to original power.

Anyway, as it turned out, the box MB UK offer (with full warranty!) costs £1499 plus the insurance of an additional £174. I decided not to do it as costs is just to high.

There are lots of chip tuning firms around. Although you will probably loose your warranty on the car.
