Having just had an electrical problem sorted out on my C180K with various warning lights showing, I have had the car back and the engine warning light in the Rev counter is still on. Having phoned up the garage that did the work they advised this wasn’t related to the other problem and it was an air hose leak. He said it was a common problem on this car and it will affect the MPG and performance. He quoted me £350 to do which seems ridiculously high, and when challenged said it wasn’t the easiest part to get.

I appreciate it could be a variety of hoses, but does anyone know any more about this? Advise to get fixed quickly? I understand the basics that the engine won’t be getting the correct fuel/air mix.

First thing is a code reader of sorts to ask the car what's upsetting it. Obviously Star is the weapon of choice, but if it's an engine fault, I can't see why A N Other reader wouldn't tell you. Otherwise you're just guessing.

Just spoken to the garage, they had it on the STAR, it is the bypass hose.
