- Mercedes E Class CDI 2.7 2005
Hi all, just recently joined in hopes someone else has experienced this.
I recently bought a 2005 E Class 2.7 CDI, very nice car for year and has been running great in general. There was an issue where I was getting error message 'battery convenience functions unavailable.....' so I replaced the battery with a brand new one.
Then one week later, I pulled into home and turned key to 0, removed it and the engine was still running, with the new 'SRS' error message running alongside the battery one. (I was pretty confident the message was displayed in error). I removed a plug from the circuit cluster to kill the engine. From that point it ran absolutely fine everyday, no warning lights/messages on the dash at all. I decided to finally get it checked over at a regular garage I use often. Basically all they done was reset the ECU and clear all messages but again, ever since, no problems, no warning messages.
Then yesterday, I washed it and when I got home, same thing, engine would not switch off. SO I remembered that on the first occasions it was raining heavily. Is there any known issue whereby water is getting in somewhere and causing this or is that pure coincidence?
Any help would be much appreciated.
