Hi

Have the car 2 months and in the first week while driving in stop/start traffic this fault flashed up and the car chugged and went and chugged and went and then it (the fault) stopped and the car drove as normal. Sent it back but the garage found nothing and I have had almost 2 months trouble free since then. Yesterday on the way home the same thing happened again out of the blue but this time it would only struggle along at 5 mph and pressing the accelerator in had no effect (no chugging this time just nothing!) Pulled over thought about how to get home and turned her off for 5 minutes and when I tried to drive it, it was fine again and got home no problem.

What is going on? and what should I do?

many thanks

The car wasnt low on fuel? EPC will flsah if the fuel pressure is too low or lack of fuel.. has the fuel filter been changed recently..

thanks for your reply. At the time it was in the red but still had plenty left and it happened today after I had filled it.

The filter was replaced by the non franchise dealer before I bought it but I did have 6 weeks completely without this fault until yesterday.

regards

Is it possible that the engine was steam cleaned..only real check you can make is to ensure that the plug at the back of the fuel pressure rail is dry and tightly fitted.. you may have to have the car put on a Star diagnostic to check if there is a problem... some of the tecchie guys may have come across this before..

Agreed with X/F.

A short test is the next step, could be a cheap fix now or a dear fix if left!!

Thanks fellas

She is going to an indie on Thursday (as recommended by the forum) and he has the STAR system/device but I will let him know your thoughts and advice.

She gave up the ghost on Wednesday morning and wouldnt accelerate at all although she was still ticking over, had to be towed to the garage.

Got it back yesterday and the problem necessitated a new accelorator pedal and a replacement of the air mass sensor, £300 but at least no more problems with hesitation at busy roundabouts!

many thanks

Both parts replaced sounds strange:confused:
Unusual if both parts failed at the same time, if the fault returns have your injectors checked on the star machine
