I Have S400 2001 with twin turbo engine .. the EPC MIL lights up while driving i test it by scanner its show this fualt code P2021 .. I change the (Y74) Pressure control valve but the problem is still ,, then i see if i remove the socket for rail pressure sensore.. the EPC light come in the cluster..

i change the sensor as well ..  still same problem,, pedal sensor also

i have no problem if the car stop ,, its very smoth at idleing speed even if i increse the rpm up to cut off,, the problem just while driving

then i take it to mercedes dealer thay change the O rings for the rail and reflash the ECU ,, SAME SAME

Anyone have any suggestions on to what the cause and best remedy for this situation

I think that I would check the MAF filters before trying the injection components. Un plug the cable from the MAF filter and try it.

I drive it without the air filters.. when its shut down you cant start it again normaly .. you have to do one of this things ,, stop the car and use the remote .. open then cluse .. then its start

switch off then remove the pressure control valve socket then fix it again ,, you can start

open ESP+EML +BAS Control unit socket then fix it back... you can start

or clear the fualt by the scanner

the code is P2021

Thanks

The code relates to The intake manifold air control actuator position sensor on cylinder bank 2, which is sending a signal below what is expected.

If you have cleaned the MAF sensor and egr valve with no joy, the problem could be similar to that on the 4/5 cylinder diesels where the flap inside the plastic inlet manifold breaks/becomes dislodged. From previous threads it looks like a new manifold was required.

Try searching for threads regarding the above.

the code is relates to pressure control valve (y74) i change it ,, there is discraption for this fualt in WIS i try all this steps .. even when i take it to mercedes dealer thay change the rail kit and thay do reflash for the ECU

then thay say the rail and ecu must be change ,, i think there is no any problem in the ecu or rail

by the way ... there is many lights comes on with this problem

BAS-ESP-ABS - airmatic.. some time only ,,,but when you restart the car 2 -3 time the light go out there is some fualt relates to the EIS in this case but if there is no any light is on there is no fualt any more in ESP system

but no any problem in this system .. i want to say one more thing - i test the car by star diagnosis

I think you have answered your own question, and I refer to EIS (electronic ignition switch, which is why they tried to reflash the memory. It most cetainly sounds like the EIS is at fault. Try another MB Dealer and point out your thinking on this. The EIS is the only component that put the lights on, as you described. :(

PS, I use Star Diagnostics too, but if it is an EIS problem, the Dealer is the only one who can sort this out. EIS is not programmed by Star. But a combination of equipments, ie the smart key. Try a good Dealer and see.;)

Eric,Sorry but the EIS switch has nothing to do with flashing the memory, its not even part of the same system or fault.

thanks for reply

the EIS nothing to do with flashing the memory but.. when missing any of the CAN BUS line input or output signal the fualt will save in the systems..

all system will only work via EIS registry ..maybe any system not work like a cd changer in some time .. you try to catch the problem but there is no any problem in the car.. just bad reception for the CAN ..disconnect the battry .. evrything will be fine.

you can change the EIS in your workshop for sure .. just you have to get the workshop key (green)

then you can do it by star diagnosis.. we do this all the time if we get this key

can i find control unit with EIS (set) with keys and gear shifter for this car wtih anybody ??

the car is 2002 S400 CDI

V8 TWIN TURBO

The simple answer to this question is no. Only Mercedes Benz (Authorized dealers) have the equipment to do this. The secrets of the green key are guarded like the queen.:!:
