Any insights in the community on how/when the EQG will be announced/released and what the final spec will be?

I mean we have seen the EQG Prototype, and heard it will have 4 motors, and 'potentially' a square spare wheel, based on the S-Class Q form factor. But what else. So many other things will need to change.

Diff locking? No need. More electronics.
Hi/Lo ratio? how?
Hybrid before full electric?
Ride height adjustment?
Where will the round spare wheel actually go (in the 'engine' bay?)

Looking forward to it though.

I doubt anyone outside Mercedes knows the answer to those questions outside what is in press releases.

For example:

Frankly I'd view an electric off road vehicle as a fashion statement rather than a practical proposition. How would you charge one half way across the Sahara or up in the Arctic?

The overwhelming majority of off-road vehicles don't even go near the beach or Iceland shops.

As long as they can go up the kerbs and get across the lines surrounding disabled parking spaces they will be fine.
