Erratic running on A140 engine.

Evening all,

Any advice for an A140 whose engine is running erratically (sounds like mis-firing at low revs and stalls) and will not rev above 4000 rpm after being run for a while.

Funny thing is this - switching the engine off, then back on, can cure the problem most times. Also having the heater fans on 2 and max temp has stopped the problem occuring for a number of months now.

Wierd one this - any advice?

Air mass issue I suspect. Get it on an diag machine asap.

Hi all,

The mileage is 106k and the last service was about 3 months ago. Noticed that when it goes erratic there is a sulphur like smell.

Diagnosis machine? do you mean at MB garage or send off air mass sensor?

You need to have the fault codes read, it sounds like a air-flow meter gone down, as Black above, MB or a indi,

same happened to mine, it was the air mass flow meter, but diagnostics check would be a good idea, if it is that MB want big bucks for a new one but there is various repair services available, got a thread goin on which company is best for it that you might wanna check out
