Erratic Tic Over

Please can anyone help,

I Have a 1993 Class 180 and when starting the revs are erratic and when I stop the car and get out I can smell Petrol.

I'm in a similar position.

I can smell petrol on my 190e but no sign of a leak....also my idle is rather high (900) and can wander a bit....was wondering if the air-fuel mix was wrong i.e. too much fuel?

i have a 230e and i can quite frequently smell petrol out side the car. Mums 190e has the same smell. I did notice seepage around the fuel pump outlet on both of them and tightened the pipe. Maybee thats something to look at?

as for the issue of revs - the older cars had a idle control valve, that caused some problems. Another thing could be your fuel pressure regulator ( i think) it was in from the the air intake (under the air filter) in the older cars.
