I need to register my car (1996 merc C220) in France and need to change my headlights to get my controle technique(mot).

Does anyone know if I have to change the whole headlights or can I just change the glass.

Also can anyone suggest where in the UK I might buy headlights, as they are expensive in France.

Thanks

Hi,
Interesting question, not 100%, but I think you would be better off replacing the entire headlight as I believe you would have to replace the headlight glass and the silver reflector as well, which can only be bought with the headlight.
But as to where to get LHD headlights, in the UK, you could try a breakers but me personnally would buy new from BOSCH as they substantially cheaper than MB.
Or you could try E-bay France or Germany.

I have the same problem with my 220CDI (1999). You will have to change the glass( Verre De Phare) my quote from Mercedes in Vendome France is 340 Euro for the units including labour @ 50 Euro an hour. If you think France is expensive don't get a quote in the UK as you will pass out and need medical attention.

Graeme,

Are that speed-autoteile company trade only? The web sites needs a login before getting more information? I am based in France, so any such European parts company would be useful.

Anyone,

Also, can the RU website be relied on for part nos? For example I am looking for a pair of Zenon lenses for a Merc E300 to convert from UK to Continental (LHD, right hand traffic). The parts shown are 2108203766, 2108203866, but googling these show mostly russian hits only. I guess there are different part nos for European lights (France or Germany).

Thanks, Andy
